GEC meets with Vice President of Uruguay to discuss LGBT+ priorities for Latin America

Representatives from the Global Equality Caucus were in Montevideo this month with regional stakeholders to meet with government officials and legislators to talk about LGBT+ priorities for Uruguay and the wider region, following the second part of our Latin America launch in Buenos Aires in May.

We met with Vice President Beatriz Argimón to discuss the Equal Rights Coalition agenda for September and Uruguay's record as a leader on equal rights in South America. It was also a pleasure to meet with Dr. Julio María Sanguinetti, former President of the Republic.

We also caught up with legislators Desirée Pagliarini and Patricia Soria, who committed to assisting efforts to pass an explicit conversion therapy ban in Uruguay by signing our pledge.
