GEC to be part of new parliamentary platform on ending HIV/AIDS

The Global Equality Caucus has been committed to improving healthcare access for LGBT+ people ever since we were founded.

From the outset we have worked with legislators on HIV health equity across multiple projects, including our research on decriminalisation and our HIV Prevention Portal.

This month, our work to end HIV/AIDS within the next decade will be taken to the next stage.

Today (Wednesday 24 July 2024), at the AIDS2024 Conference in Munich, we have launched the Global Parliamentary Platform on HIV/AIDS (GPP HIV) together with the Global TB Caucus and UNITE, with partners including StopAIDS, UNAIDS, the International AIDS Society and WACI Health.

The GPP’s Founding Declaration has been signed by 370 parliamentarians from 45 countries and pledges to work with communities, civil society, governments, institutions and multilaterals to build the necessary democratic and political pressure for a more determined HIV response.

This new initiative will synchronise HIV/AIDS work across different parliamentary networks, with each organisation contributing their specialist knowledge and experience, as we move forward to our common goal - ending HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

The full Founding Declaration can be read on our website here.
