Global Equality Caucus visits Berlin for LGBT History Month
The Global Equality Caucus has joined civil society stakeholders at an event at the UK Embassy in Berlin, Germany for LGBT History Month.
The Embassy hosted an LGBT film night on 13 February to celebrate LGBT history, which was followed by a panel discussion on LGBT+ inclusion.
Alan Wardle, Director of the Caucus, joined the Embassy panel discussion alongside Leanne Macmillan, from UK LGBT rights charity Stonewall, and German drag performer Veuve Noire.
Alan spoke about the importance of engaging parliamentarians on LGBT+ equality issues and linking them together to advocate for inclusion. Other topics covered included the value of LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace.
Attendees also had the opportunity to network with other LGBT+ stakeholders from civil society and government.
Alan also visited the Reichstag building to meet with members of the Bundestag, including Caucus members Dr Stefan Kaufmann and Ulle Schauws, to discuss their parliamentary work on LGBT+ equality and to outline future collaboration on LGBT+ issues both in Germany and internationally.
