Gay senator recounts being offered 'conversion therapy'

Belgian Senator Fourat Ben Chikha, who is also the LGBT+ rapporteur for the Council of Europe, has recorded a message for the Global Equality Caucus recounting his personal exposure to ‘conversion therapy’ and the damaging effect this had on his wellbeing and family relationships.

Thankfully Fourat, who is openly gay, has since grown to build a successful life and career in Belgium. However, conversion practices remain legal almost everywhere, including many countries in Europe, and many young and vulnerable LGBT+ people continue to be harmed by them.
